Anonymous;Code Wiki

GAIA is an Earth Simulator developed by the GAI Computer Corporation with Asuma Soga as the head researcher. Supposedly it got build to track things such as fluctuation in weather patterns and activity of the Earth’s crust, but ultimately it was a tool designed to predict the future of the Earth itself.

The digitized Earth within this simulator is said to be completely accurate down to the smallest detail. However, progress on the simulator has been put on hold due to the events of Sad Morning. Eventually, it launched later in the story.

How it works[]

GAIA can simulate any event at a given time and space, essentially it can also violating people's privacy, being able to control every place in the world at will, any events can be observed without a flaw and the result can be used to influence the reality: during the presentation[1], Ewan Okuda shots with a gun a person who will turn out to be a spy in GAIA's predictions, saving the life of two politicians present there.

However, GAIA's predictions can never be 100% accurate, so the maximum accuracy that it can reach is 99.9%, the rest 0.1% are "infinite possibilities" or "variations", those variations can be for example errors.

The main issue[]

Asuma Soga explains to Pollon Takaoka and Momo Aizaki the sync rate: this is a value measuring the consistency between a person's actions in GAIA and their actions in reality. While normally a person inside GAIA range from 95%-99% and could never fall below 80%, Pollon is an exception. Because of the Saving and Loading given to him by Anon, his sync rate can even reach 20% while he is trying to complete Cicada 3301's quests[2].

Furthermore, Momo only exists in the world layer where Anonymous;Code takes place so she is completely absent in GAIA, making Asuma's predictions even more complicated.
